How Long Does It Take to Realize the Results of Spinal Decompression?

Most of our patients will experience some pain relief after a few sessions. Significant results usually come in the second week of treatment.

How Long Does Spinal Decompression Take?

The decompression procedure takes between 20 to 30 minutes. You must take daily sessions for the first two weeks of spinal decompression treatment. Over the next two weeks, you will reduce the sessions to three per week and twice a week for the final two weeks of treatment.

Who Qualifies for Spinal Decompression?

Not everyone can engage in spinal decompression. You need to undergo selection using inclusion and exclusion criteria. 

What Is the Inclusion Criteria for Spinal Decompression?

  • Over four weeks of pain due to bulging and herniated lumbar discs
  • Patient experiences over six months of recurrent pain due to failed back surgery.
  • Pain from the degenerated disc persists despite four weeks of therapy.
  • You are available for four weeks to undergo treatment.
  • Over 18 years of age

What Is the Exclusion Criteria for Spinal Decompression?

You do not qualify for decompression if:

  • Disc space infections
  • Abdominal or pelvic cancer
  • Cognitive dysfunction, hemiplegia, paraplegia
  • Metastatic cancer; Pregnancy prior lumbar fusion under six months
  • Severe peripheral neuropathy
  • Severe osteoporosis spondylolisthesis
  • Recent lumbar spine compression fracture

Does Decompression Have Any Side Effects?

Decompression does not have any side effects for most patients. However, some report muscle spasm for a short while.

Does the Decompression Procedure Have Any Risks?

No. The procedure is safe and comfortable for everyone who qualifies for treatment. The patient and operator can flip the emergency stop switch to terminate treatment.

Can I Do Decompression if I Have Already Had Surgery?

Yes. The majority of patients can get spinal decompression treatment after most failed back surgeries.
